We chose Charlson Construction of Valparaiso as the general contractor for Silhavy Square Retail Center because of Vic Charlson’s impeccable reputation. During our vetting process we found he shared our vision for a superior retail center. As the final phase of construction comes to a close, we see by the quality of construction that we could not have made a better choice. We want to maintain the integrity of our center with high quality workmanship, so we ask that tenants consider Charlson for their build-outs. Tenant space is now available for interior finishing.
Silhavy Square is located on Valparaiso’s booming east side, just two blocks north of the Valparaiso Marketplace. We hope to attract an upscale restaurant to our center. A small coffee shop or deli would also be a great fit. End units access a large courtyard patio between the two buildings, which would be an ideal site for casual outdoor eating. Office space is also available to enhance the use of the center.

As spring approaches, work on the beautifully designed landscape will begin. Wrought iron gates, brick pavers, a cedar pergola and a painted custom mural are design elements under consideration. An old-fashioned four-sided street clock, black powder- coated park benches, and low-voltage tree and shrub lighting are a few of the design elements that will beautify Silhavy Square.
Smalls Landscaping of Valparaiso will manage the landscaping. Best known locally for maintaining the Oprah Winfrey property in La Porte for more than 15 years, Smalls has a stellar reputation for both design and installation. Other clients include Carlton Fisk, Ron Kettle and Benessere Vineyard of Napa Valley, California.
We anticipate a grand opening in the summer of 2007 for a retail center that business retailers will be proud to call home.
